Tools, Techniques and
Strategies for Instant Change
The Re-Write
Your mind does not
think like you do. It has its own ways.
For this strategy,
there are 3 things you need to know about how the mind works.
First-
Your mind thinks in
terms of finites, definites, specifics. Given a definite thing to
focus on, it will do
so, to the detriment of other conflicting, yet less definable
ideas.
For instance, if you
are telling yourself, "I don't have enough money." and also, "I only
have enough money to buy $50 in groceries this week," your mind will
more strongly believe that you indeed DO have $50 to buy groceries
with. This, in spite of the previous thought, which "should" indicate
that you do NOT have enough money.
Second-
Your mind
thinks in terms of pictures. Since it is difficult to picture a
negative thing (Don't think of a Pink Elephant! -ah, you did, didn't
you?) the mind will make use of positive images much more strongly and
be able to hold onto, and process the images much better when they are
formed in positive way.
Third-
The thoughts and
images in your mind are much more powerful when associated with
emotion. Emotions "charge" the thoughts with energy, and increase
the speed with which they become reality.
Now,
in much the
same way as you told your mind ""whenever I
think
*this*,
replace it with *THIS* (see The Switch)
you can tell your mind
"*this is an illusion* and *THIS is my reality*."
Start by taking a
clean piece of paper and making a label at the top that reads MY
ILLUSIONS. Then, start making a list of the things in your
life
that you do not like. You can make a focused list to work on
categories, like -everything I do not like about my job- or, you can
generalize and just list things about your life you'd like to change.
The list should have
only one item per line. For example;
LIKE THIS:
My microwave is
broken.
The yard is a mess.
I hate my boss.
NOT
LIKE THIS:
My microwave is
broken, and my yard is a mess, and I hate my boss.
You can make your
list as long or as short as you like. Go ahead and make a list
now. It's OK. I"ll wait.... ..... .....
Got your list?
Good.
Now, pull out
another clean sheet of paper, and put a new label at the top called MY
REALITY.
Then, looking at
your first list, re-write each
line, with these characteristics:
*
Changing it to whatever you really do
wish to experience.
*
Write it with energizing words,
that give it enthusiasm and power.
*
Make sure it is written in a positive
way, not a negative way ("I don't
have ........" is not as good as "I do have ......")
*
Make sure it is a definite. ( "I am wealthy" is not as good as "I
have enough money to cover my expenses 5 times over each month")
*
Make the new sentence directly relate to the old one. (If you have
said,
"I hate my boss" it will not do much good to state "I love my new job."
Better would be, "I am able to tolerate my boss better each day.")
For example:
for: "My microwave
is broken. " you might write "I have a brand new state of the art
microwave that looks great!"
for: "My yard is a
mess." you might write, " My yard is tidy and neat."
Feel free to
elaborate, but if you do, write each additional detail as a new
sentence.
For the yard
example, you could have written:
The yard is tidy and
neat.
All the plants are
healthy.
It has colorful
blooming flowers!
Make an
enthusiastic, positive sentence for each and every sentence that
you have written on your ILLUSION page. After you have written
the new, positive sentence for each negaive line on your Illusion page,
CROSS OUT THE NEGATIVE STATEMENT, and then go on to write the
next set of positive statements on your Realty side.
Here's
why-
Your mind loves to
categorize things, and since it cannot tell the difference between
imagined thoughts, and "reality", you have just told your mind which
list you prefer to be "real". Your mind will immediately begin to
comply with the new filing system, believing it to be fact, and begin
to create for you just exactly what has been requested.
Now this part is
important!
Destroy
the
ILLUSION list!
Tear it up, wad it
up and throw it away, or (my favorite) light it on fire, and burn it up!
Notice how different
you feel already? As your mind moves from one set of beliefs to
another, the changes that have begun will become more and more
noticable each day. Keep
the new list handy, and refer to it
anytime you need a boost.

Now, Do you know anyone who is afraid of something? Spiders,
snakes, needles, perhaps? This next technique is amazing in
its ability to remove any phobia in the one minute it takes to do it.
