26 Tips On Motivation
-
The Heart Of Self Improvement
Pain is usually the reason why people
change. Getting failing grades make us
realize that we need to study. Debts remind us of our inability to find
a
satisfactory source of income. If we had a satisfactory source of
income we
wouldn't have debts; would we?
Being humiliated gives us the "push" to speak up and fight for
ourselves; to save our face from future embarrassments. It may be a
bitter
experience, a friend's tragic story, a great movie, or an inspiring
book that
will help us get up and get just the right amount of motivation we need
in
order to improve ourselves.
Pain is a great motivator! With the countless negativity the world
brings
about, how do we keep motivated?
Try out the tips I've prepared from A to Z:
A - Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places.
Eleanor
Roosevelt once said, "The future belongs to those who believe in the
beauty of their dreams."
B - Believe in yourself, and in what you can accomplish.
C - Consider things from every angle and aspect. Motivation comes from
determination. To be able to understand life, you should feel the sun
from both
sides.
D - Don't give up and don't give in. Thomas Edison failed once, twice,
more
than three times before he came up with his invention and perfected the
incandescent light bulb. Make motivation your steering wheel.
E - Enjoy! Work as if you don't need money, dance
as if nobody's watching, love as if you
never cried, and learn as if you'll live forever. Motivational momentum
takes
place when people are happy.
F - Family and Friends - are life's greatest "F" treasures. Don't
loose sight of them.
G - Give more than what is enough. Where does motivation and self
improvement take place at work? At home?
At school? Always give 110%!
H - Hang on to your dreams. They may dangle in there for a moment, but
these
little stars will be your driving force. Define your target and hit it,
until
you hit it!
I - Ignore those who try to destroy you. Don't let other people get the
best of
you. Stay away from toxic people - the kind of friends who hates to
hear about
your success. Stay away from negativity!
J - Just be yourself. The key to success is to be yourself. And the key
to
failure is to try to please everyone.
K - Keep trying no matter how hard life may seem. When a person is
motivated,
eventually he sees a harsh life finally clearing out, paving the way to
self
improvement.
L - Learn to love yourself. Now isn't that easy?
M - Make things happen. Motivation is when your dreams are put into
work
clothes.
N - Never lie, cheat or steal. Always play a fair game.
O - Open your eyes. People should learn the horse attitude and horse
sense.
They see things in 2 ways - how they want things to be, and how they
should be.
P - Practice makes perfect. Practice is about motivation. It lets us
learn
repertoire and ways on how can we recover from our mistakes.
Q - Quitters never win. And winners never quit. So, choose your fate -
are you
going to be a quitter? Or a winner?
R - Ready yourself. Motivation is also about preparation. We must hear
the
little voice within us telling us to get started before others will get
on
their feet and try to push us around. Remember, it wasn't raining when
Noah
build the ark.
S - Stop procrastinating. Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do
today -
we never know what tomorrow will bring!
T - Take control of your life. Discipline and self control jives
synonymously
with motivation. Both are key factors in self improvement.
U - Understand others. You know how to talk, you should also learn how
to
listen. Yearn to understand first, and to be understood the second. We
have 2
ears and one mouth - use them proportionately!
V - Visualize it. Motivation without vision is like a boat on a dry
land. You
need to have a crystal clear path.
W - Want it more than anything. Dreaming means believing. And to
believe is
something that is rooted out from the roots of motivation and self
improvement.
X - X-Factor
is what will make you different from
the others. When you are motivated, you tend to put on "extras" on
your life like extra time for family, extra help at work, extra care
for
friends, and so on.
Y - You are unique. No one in this world looks, acts, or talks like
you. Value
your life and existence, because you only get to spend it once.
Z - Zero in on your dreams and go for it!!!
Pain IS a great motivator, but don't wait for the pain before you get
motivated! Define your goals and move towards them every day. Keep your
focus
on your goals crystal clear and take the most direct path to reaching
them.
Stay motivated; without motivation we will get nowhere!

Building Motivation
Is A Daily Exercise
by: Mark
Webb, M.S.,L.M.F.T.
Being in the counseling field, I often get asked, “How can I motivate
myself?”
Getting ourselves motivated is a lot like exercising. You have to work
out on a
regular basis in order to keep from getting flabby. Your attitude is
the same
way; you have to work on it routinely.
Here are some suggestions to build motivation and a positive mental
attitude:
Read positive material
and/or listen to
motivational tapes on a
daily basis. Spend at least 15 minutes a day either
reading or listening to something that is going to help you be your
best self.
Use the drive to work to listen to self improvement programs. You can
turn your
car into a sort of University on Wheels. I tell people that unless they
have an
eating disorder, they can miss a meal but not these 15 minutes for
their mind.
If you can devote more time to your self improvement then do so.
Visit the library and
check out books
dealing with “Success.”
These can be self improvement or the biographies of
people you’ve admired throughout history.
Become more physically
active. This can
include exercises such as walking and running. It can also include
simpler
methods such as walking at a slightly more rapid pace, sitting up in a
confident fashion, smiling, breathing deeply and fully and holding your
head
erect.
Write your goals on paper
or note cards
and place them where you will see them daily. You need to remind
yourself often
of the dreams you have for yourself. Remember, You Become What You
Think About!
Keep your mind on the things you want and off the things you don’t.
Write your goals in
specific terms and
put a deadline on them. Think about your goals before you say your
prayers at
bedtime.
Use positive self-talk.
Most people are
their own worst enemy in terms of how they talk to themselves. Give
yourself
encouragement and be optimistic in the words you use. Avoid saying “I
can’t”
and stop placing negative labels on yourself.
Look at problems as
opportunities. All
problems have a gift or an opportunity to learn, grow or better
ourselves. If we
look for the opportunity, we will find the solution to keep us on track
with
our life versus getting stuck within the hopelessness of our problems.
Developing a positive motivation for life is essential to accomplish
your
dreams in life. Practice these skills and develop a mindset that will
make
these skills a way of life. You were born to succeed!

Motivation: The Energy
Behind Action
Many people think motivation is just an emotion, or a thought. Its not!
Motivation is the energy behind action.
No motivation and your actions are empty; without substance. However,
if you
add motivation to your actions, they become powerful and effective.
Motivation is the sister of intent, and together, they make us
effective or
ineffective people.
How is Motivation Energy?
Motivation begins with a thought or a desire. These thoughts or desires
have
real energy within them, and they energize whatever they touch. If
these are in
conversation, they energize your speech and the hearing of those that
listen to
them. This is a fact.
Every good salesman knows he cannot sell anything unless he is
motivated and
believes what he is doing is also good for those who buy. If the
salesman is
not "sold", he will never sell. Being sold is his motivation
energizing his thoughts, speech and finally actions.
The fact that motivation is energy is seen most easily in those people
whose
task it is, to convince others. You simply cannot convince others
unless you
are convinced. You cannot be convinced unless you are motivated.
Motivation Dispels Procrastination
Putting things off; a common human trait, is also a cause of a great
many human
ills and unhappy situations. If you are motivated, however, you "just
do
it" as the slogan goes, and step by step you eventually progress.
Do not procrastinate. If you do, you're ideas, your thoughts become
impotent,
and you become impotent with them.
How to Become Motivated
There is an old prayer, where a saint is walking along with road in his
bare
feet, his shoes long ruined and discarded. He prayed for shoes. Just
then he
saw a man without feet! He withdrew his prayer, and thanked God for all
his
blessings.
You need no more to become motivated than to realize if you are
reasonably
healthy, and have the basics of life, you are more than well off. Your
motivation then should be to be better in what you do, how you look,
what you
say, and most of all, how you are.
One needs no more than to realize most of the people in the world do
not have
the basics of life, yet they survive. If you ponded that thought, your
motivation comes of itself.
Turning Motivation into Action
This is the easiest part of the discussion. One turns motivation into
action by
setting goals. Your goals must be somehow realistic, and somehow
achievable.
They should be (in part anyway) achievable in a reasonable amount of
time.
Motivation somehow needs some reward, like a horse needing a bit of
sugar after working a while.
Your actions, now charged with motivation, and having a destination
(goal) are
the stuff that built empires. The stuff that put man on the moon, and
every other wonderful achievement in man's history.
You can apply these simple facts in your life, and you will see it
improve for
the better, no matter what. You must be motivated, and your motivation
will
energize your actions. An action, energized by motivation, and having a
goal
has a very large chance of success, regardless of its magnitude.
